NRK Analog Podcast Player for Seniors
The NRK Analog Podcast Player, or "Kringcast," is t designed to create an accessible and intuitive podcast player for elderly users. The project focuses on addressing the unique challenges faced by older adults in accessing digital media through a user-centered design approach.
Design Journey
The journey began with a simple yet profound question: How can we make podcasts more accessible for seniors? To find the answer, we embarked on a thorough Research & Discovery phase.
We spoke with seniors and listened to their experiences with existing technologies. It became clear that many faced memory challenges, making it difficult to remember intricate instructions. Additionally, vision limitations meant that small text and low contrast were problematic, while hearing difficulties required clear, adjustable audio settings. Notably, there was a strong preference for physical buttons, as many found touchscreens to lack the necessary tactile feedback.
